Rated 5 out of 5 by from Non Contact tester The Advanced Dual Range NCV 12-1000 Volt Tester is of excellent quality. I like that the tester is water proof. The batteries are easy to change out without compromising the water proof feature. The Led finder light is very bright and easy to use. The buttons to turn the tester and LED on and off are easy to use, and if you leave the tester on too long it will automatically turn itself off to conserve the batteries. If you want to test for lower voltages with the 12 Volt button you need to hold the button to test which at times can be difficult, but the lower volt detection works well. Very good Non contact Tester Southwire. Thanks for a great product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better tester , but Okay so really liked this one, but had one issue seems like when you push tip in to outlet was not reading the live circuit unless you held it at a certain angle , (Maybe it was just a bad unit) if not they need to remedy this to get 5 stars.. Now overall this is a well built tester with nice features , love the bright flashlight , and that you can turn it on and off. Like that it has a light in both front , a little duller , but back bright. Like the ability to read both line voltage , and switch of the button to read low voltage. Like the fact when it is on it is green, and when it reads voltage on the wires it is red and beeps. Overall is nice , except the outlet issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product for the professional I have used this product for a few months as a professional electrician that performs service work and new construction of residential and commercial buildings. This thing is tough and hasn't let me down yet. I just have it tossed in my tool bag with my drivers, drills, pliers, etc. and it is still going strong. I haven't had any false negatives yet with the device and that is obviously a good thing since a false negative would be dangerous. The flashlight is very bright and works great in a pinch when you forget to carry a headlamp or flashlight on you in the attic or under the house.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good quality This product is way better in quality and feature rich than the other brand that I own. I could immediately feel the difference by just holding it before I got to use it. The LED lights are VERY bright. My only problem, and I have this same problem with my cable tester, is that the power button gets pressed while in my tool bag and it ends up killing the battery. so a switch button maybe would have been better. overall I would recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact Tester with Built-In Lights The unit has a nice feel to it and it is easy to drip. The built in lights are a great feature. It has a low power LED light on the front and a pretty powerful LED flashlight on the back. Hopefully the two AAA batteries hold last. From time to time, I do run into 12V (sometimes I do work on boats). Now instead of grabbing my multimeter, I just use this tester. The tester is waterproof and pretty rugged. It already survived an 8 foot drop from my ladder. This has replaced my Klein as my go to tester.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! This thing is awesome! The flash light is super bright. The NCV is very responsive. It works good on 220 and 110v. on 12v it doesn't work as good but still sometimes works. And it's waterproof, I've dropped it in water 5 times now and it still works like a charm. I really like that it not only turns red when it detects a hot wire, but it also beeps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best of the breed, so far! This has the best features that I have found on an instrument of its' type. The voltage sensing range is exceptional and the controls are very positive and easy to operate. The flashlight is bright enough to be seriously useful without needing a separate light. The water resistance makes it a very useful tool, even in the damp conditions that I work in a lot of the time. This will be in my shirt pocket most of the time, from now on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rugged and dependable The voltage range and the ruggedness is a must need for the true hands-on electrician.

My detector is being really sensitive if it gets even close to any kind of voltage it's beeping so it's making it really hard to tell what wires are hot and which aren't how do I make it not so sensitive and why did it get to where it is so sensitive

Does a no voltage present indication using 40150 N on circuits or circuit parts mean that the circuit or circuit parts are de-energized and therefore safe for contact work?

Asked by: Logan
No indication on this unit does not indicate no voltage at all. If the detector does not beep and flash red, that means the detector is not detecting any voltage. If the detector does not detect voltage, we highly recommend using a meter to verify if there is voltage. Please also review the warnings in the operations instructions.

boston paul i am having a hard time getting a 12 v dc detection on my car the 120v detects fine how do i set it for 12V dc?

Asked by: boston paul
To use the 12V setting, you must push and hold the 12V button. However, this unit is only for AC voltage on. It does not work on DC voltage.

Could you make an attachment or different unit that has a lower sensitivity or a shield that could allow it to isolate/test a single wire in close proximity to other potentially powered wires?

Please call our customer service team at 1-855-798-6657 and we will connect you with a Product Manager who can assist you.
